Redundancy - where do I start?

BLUF:

My friend has been made redundant - which podcasts should he go to first?

My best friend has just been made redundant. He was with his company for over 23 years and has worked so hard it just doesn't seem fair. But I'm sure that is the way these things often go.

Anyway, I want to help him but I don't reallly know where to begin.

I have my own small company (a veterinary practice) so I know nothing about the big, corporate, world so don't really feel I can offfer him any useful advice in this area.

So, I have bought him an annual licence at Manager Tools and I'd like to be able to help direct him - there are so many podcasts that it will probably be a bit daunting for him - especially at such a stressful time.

He is thinking about starting his own company rather than going back to working for someone else. I don't know if this is a knee-jerk reaction or something he will follow through with.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
