Dear MT forum,

BLUF: How to write a "good bye" email?

I am leaving my current company for a better opportunity.  I would like your feedback on sending out personal "good bye" email.

My proposal is below.  However, should I also mention where I am heading?  Should I wish the people still at the company "Good luck"?

My proposal below is based on ideas from Mark H, which I found in a separate forum topic.

Dear ”xyz”,

I am leaving "company" on Tuesday the 24th of Feb after 8 fantastic years.

It has been a great time!  I have learned a lot from people I will always care about.  You helped me appreciate what results and teamwork mean, and I will always carry that with me.  I will remember when we have worked together.

Thanks you so much for your professionalism and friendship.  I will keep in touch with you!

Sincerely
Erik

Hi Erik - I think that is a great email and says it all. Very professional. I would leave off the "good luck" as the cynics will read something into it that isn't there. And if people want to know where you are going, they will ask you (and for those that don't personally come to say goodbye before you walk out the door could probably find your new information on LinkedIn).
We sometimes have staff leave a personal email address and waffle on for ages - short, sweet and professional is clean and effective. I like what you've written and would be impressed if I saw something as succint as that.
All the best,
Cyndy
