Hi there,

How can I recommend Manager Tools to my boss(es) without making it sound like feedback?

Cheers,

Christine

Hi Christine
One of the MT/CT rules is don't manage up the food chain.  If said manager asks you how you know something, you can mention MT/CT.  Or if said manager overhears you mention them to a co-worker.  Otherwise, pretty slippery slope.

I'm with *rntt1 on this one. A suggestion may be interpreted as "You're doing it wrong..." and that would not go over well.  Whenever I was asked about what I do for professional development MT/CT would come up in conversation.

If you're asking how you can get your boss to adopt MT practices, I can't help you. But there are other ways to get "lucky" if you're talking about getting your organization to adopt 03s and other processes. In this context that old quote attributed to everyone from Socrates to Darryl Royal is in play: "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity."
Therefore become the best manager you can be. If you become a standout, you are more likely to be sought out for advice by peers and to serve on work groups that might be studying ways to improve your culture, reduce turnover, or improve employee engagement. There's your opening.
Second, if you have the opportunity, mentor others when you feel you're ready. Then when a more inexperienced manager asks you about your model, there's another opening. (If your organization does not have a mentor program, suggest it.)
Not quite the easy solution you were hoping for, but change is seldom easy.
