Baltimore/DC Meet-Up July 15th

Several of us are planning a Manager-Tools Meet-up in Arlington, VA for July 15th. We will be meeting at Ted's Montana Grill.

These have been very valuable to those of us who have attended in the past. We'd like to invite anyone in the Baltimore/DC area that can make it.  Or if you are in town on business please attend.  Per our other meet-ups we will start at 7:00 pm and end no later than 9:00 pm. If you want to hang around after that, it's on your clock not ours.

Hope many in the area will be able to attend. As time gets closer I'll publish an agenda for the meet-up. If you have topics of discussion you'd like to include reply to this post and share your ideas. Please reply to this post so we know how many reservations to make at Ted's.

Thanks,

Dave Baldwin

As I tried this meetup to no response 2 months ago... the first item on the Agenda would be = "Timely Response to Meetup request....listen and practice the Sense of Urgency Podcast"
(thats the High "D" in me there)
;)

Thank you Dave. I think when you meet us all you'll realize how much we need someone holding us accountable. It's a great group of people and your High "D" angst will disappear before the meeting even starts. Looking forward to meeting you in person.

I'm considering trekking down from Baltimore, but I see there are two Ted's in Arlington.  Which one is it?

I don't know, Dave. With so many High D's in one room we may immediately degenerate into chest pounding. Can we add arm wrestling to the agenda this time?? I've been working out. Just sayin'.
Jesse, it's the Ted's in Arlington.

Thank you Kate for your suggestion for the agenda. We may want to add that to what we do after the official close of the meeting.
Jesse, I am north of Baltimore out in rural Carroll County and I find it very profitable attending these meet-ups so I would encourage you to try it out.
Looking forward to July 15th!
Blessings,
Dave

We need to get a count for the reservations at Ted's, so who's planning on attending our meet-up on July 15th? I don't know bout you, but it's been too long since our last meet-up. I'll publish an agenda later this week. Hope we can all make it. Plus sounds like we'll have some new folks as well.
Blessings,
Dave

I'm not going to be able to make it this time around. We'll be in vacation mode in Upstate New York then.

I'm in, Dave!

BJ, we'll miss you! With you gone, I'm glad there's at least one person interested in some organization. I must admit, I simply just enjoy being around you all, agenda or not. :-)

Dave, looking forward to it.

Greetings all,
Usually I just read the posts, but I have to reply to this one!  I'm in DC and I'd love to come on the 15th if there's still space. :)

Submitted by David Baldwin on Tuesday June 29th, 2010 1:05 pm

I echo Mike's words regarding BJ. You'll be missed Bro!
As far as room, Tracy, there's always room for everyone.  So at this point we're at four. I'm sure we'll be at six or seven by the time everyone replies. Maybe even more. My next comment will include the agenda for the evening.
Blessings,
Dave

I look forward to attending!
Warning: I am a high "D" with little to no "S".

Greetings Everyone,
I am including the agenda for the evening below. Look forward to see old friends and meeting new ones. We are going to have an enjoyable and profitable time.
 Baltimore/D.C.
Manager-Tools Meet-up
July 15, 2010

Ted’s Montana Grill
4300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 130
Arlington, VA 22203

1. Welcome/Introductions if there are newcomers (7:00 p.m.) - Who you are, where you're from, when and why you discovered Manager Tools.

2. Update from last meeting (7:15) – Have you overcome any of the challenges you mentioned in the last meeting? How did you do it and what was the outcome?

3. Your most powerful manager tool(s) (8:00 p.m.) Which tools have been the most successful/effective for you? Why? Are there any that you've tried that haven't worked?

4. Adjourn (9:00 p.m. or whenever)

5. The educator in me wants to add a dimension. If you have read a book on management lately, perhaps you could share a little bit about the book and how it compares to what we are learning through Manager-Tools. We'll squeeze that topic in if discussion slows.

Hey Dave,
I think I might try to make it on the 15th. (Thanks for the encouragement.)
Would you consider sharing a ride down? I don't mind driving.
I live in Owings Mills and can get off work almost anytime.
Thanks,
Jesse

Just a reminder about our meet-up on Thursday evening. You can read through this discussion thread and find the directions to Ted's Montana Grill. I just got off the phone making reservations. So we're set. I cheated a bit on the high side in case others want to attend.
See you at 7:00 pm and review the agenda above for the plan of the evening.
I can't wait!
Blessings,
Dave

Dave,

Sorry for the late response.  I forgot to monitor the MT forums.
I would like to join if it's not too late.
On a side note, I noticed Manager Tools recently celebrated the org's 5 year anniversary.  I think that's a great accomplishment!!

Regards,
Steve

Hey Steve,
You know it's never too late for you to show up! You're one of the founding members of the Baltimore/DC Meet-up. What we do without you. See you tonight!
Five years, eh. What a great accomplishment! We should have a birthday cake tonight!
Blessings,
Dave

Hi all,
Sorry I won't be able to make it tonight.  To be perfectly frank, Mark giving me feedback last time scared me away for good!
Seriously -- I wish I could be there.  Hopefully I'll be able to make the next one.  Have fun!
Cheers,
Bill

Hey Bill,
Sorry you won't be able to join us tonight! Maybe next time. We try to have them every three months. This has been longer though.
Blessings,
Dave

Bill,

I'm not sure who remembers that meetup . . .

I want to say it was back when Mike was still in the restaurant business.

Are you still in Philly?  Hope all is well with you and yours.

Steve

Dave,

Thanks for coordinating.  We had some great discussions.
I especially enjoyed the discussion about roasting coffee.  I am amazed by the story of your new venture.  Best of luck with that.  Sounds like a very worthy cause.

Best,
Steve

Dave,
Thanks for putting the meet-up together.  I really enjoyed the opportunity to hear and talk about work things outside of work.

Mike, Dave, Jesse, Kate, Steve, Shawn - I enjoyed time with you all immensely.  Shawn, the Situational Leadership example will be useful, thank you for that.  Dave, the coffee thing rocks, dude.  Mike, I am more impressed with you in person than on audio and thought that was not possible.
So....same time tonight?
C'mon!
