Hello,

I am young (23 years old) and since I started work some years ago my career has been improving year after year. I am a very dedicated and committed person. I already did projects for a lot of big companies.

But (if there is not a but, there is not a topic too :] )...

But my communication is not good, I do not know how to sell myself, how to be friendly ( I am not rude but I think i am not friendly enough in a way that could help me), how to win people, do you know what I mean?

There are people who can convince the other even if they do not know about what they are talking about and I am the contrary of that sometime I think that is hard to convince (persuade) others about what I know and I am certain of.

Do you have any tips, books, sites or advices for me?

** Sorry about any mistakes that I could have made, English is not my first language.

Thanks!

Hi Mat,
there are two suggestions I'd make:
The first is to read the book "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. Take a look at the thread http://www.manager-tools.com/forums-429. It's well worth a read, and I think most people can learn something from it. It should help with your questions of how to win people and how to be friendly.
The second is to see if there's a Toastmasters group in your area that you could join. See the thread http://www.manager-tools.com/forums-911 and the toastmasters website at http://www.toastmasters.org/. This will allow you to learn new skills in communicating with people. OK, so it's to many people at once, which may not at first seem what you're looking for. The same skills in finding effective ways to communicate your point of view still apply, so I think it's very relevant. Plus, it will give you a whole new set of people to practice being friendly with.
Incidentally, the English in your post was very good, and you worded it in a friendly way!

Hey Stringl,
Thank you very much for the advices.
In fact the book I already read some months ago and it really helped me.
About the Toastmasters groups, I have not heard about it before but the idea is very good. It seems very helpful, in fact, I think this kind of thing was just what I was looking for (without know of course :]) because I can practice and get feedback about my communication. I hope I can find some meetings near here (in Brazil seems that is not very easy to find one - at least in my first searches).
Thanks!!
