I don't have an invite for wave, but would really like to explore it . Using it for contacting other MT members sounds brillant. If anyone is able to let me have an invite please PM me.
The MT test wave now has 14 geeky participants, lots of tests, but no idea of new MT value yet. If there are any people that have ideas on how waving could be a significant addition to the community, their opinion would be appreciated!
M&M talk about doing things every week, every month, every quater. Perhaps we can collectively write one wave that puts that all together?
There is a thread in the forum "you got a new job, now what" that has a few replies. This could usefully be a single wave that people can collectively maintain. (http://www.manager-tools.com/forums-3784)
A wave where podcasts are grouped by topic / theme.
Anything that could be a static page insteady of reply on reply could always be represented more usefully as a single wave that is collectively maintained.
I like the fact that I can ask a group of fellow MT followers a question and it isn't anonymous and it isn't public. Sometimes I have a question that I want to ask that I don't want in the public sphere or sometimes I'm just not in the mood to be pummeled by anonymous strangers for not wording something correctly.
Actually, Manager Tools is such an awesome, professional group of people so it is not typically the case here, but I think that people are much harsher when they're online and anonymous. Those of you who peruse other forums know what I mean.
You are right, it would be very similar to a wiki. Only difference I can think of - the wiki's i have used don't allow concurrent editing of the same doc - which in theory we can do with wave.
The wave is a weird product - it is a mashup of IM / email / forums / wiki / google docs with some pretty cool realtime integration with "robots" - like real time translation.. At work - i've not been able to think of any ideas for putting google wave to good use. We use a wiki and google docs all the time. But Google wave - not yet. For now, its interesting. But not yet useful for me or my team at work.
I have several invitations. PM me your contact info if you wish to participate in the MT Wave. Several MT folks have experimented with Wave over the past week---here is my initial thought.
Having all the MT fans in one Wave becomes unwieldy. I recommend we have a primary Wave with links/arcs to themed Waves.
I added the "test wave" that was started. I think we should treat this as a document and keep it from becoming a string of comments. I just added the link to the main "blip" (yes, that's what google calls them) rather than as a comment. This way we can keep them sorted by category and/or goals when we have enough.
And for anyone who hasn't seen it, Gina from Lifehacker is writing a book about google wave. It's available for free at completewaveguide.com
I'll check twitter tomorrow over the weekend (like Mark H, I don't see the utility to keeping it up all day long). Whomever DM's me a tweet with an email address will get an invite: http://twitter.com/PoojanWagh.
You can also try PM'ing me here, but my email has been kind of flaky lately. (Yes, I am embarrased that Twitter is my main form of communication--but I swear it's only temporary.)
Google announced on December 6th 2010 that WAVE would remain running beyond December 31, 2010 until a suitable replacement to host waves is available. In addition they have launched Google Shared Spaces whihc has gadgets that use the WAVE technology. Further information is available at googlewave.blogspot.com.
Is Google+ potentially the replacement for Wave Stevesim mentioned back in December?
Circles and Huddle seem like a good way to keep track of people and meet virtually. I'm aware that not everyone is enamoured of G+ right now due to certain policies Google have and that it's still in test but it looks like it could be a useful tool. Right now it's a bit Facebookish in layout, I think, and I don'#t really know enough people on it (I have invites to use) to be able to use it fully but there's promise there.

I also have 2 invites left for Google Voice.
Google Wave invites
All my current invites are gone now. I'll post back if/when Google grants more to me.
I'm game.
A friend of mine sent me an invite and I signed up but I don't know what to do with it from that point. I'd be game for any MT-Wave thing being setup.

Wave vs. Wiki
Anandha, how would your idea differ from an MT Wiki? Only by the fact that it is membership by invitation?
wiki vs wave

Once we're on...

Thanks!!!

Master Wave List
TL, That would be a great Idea.
Maybe Wendii could start a new "Master list" wave where people could put links to other MT related waves.
I know I'm enjoying the MT test wave that's out there, but I agree that it's hard to build value for the MT community without some curating.
