I'm not sure where else to post this, but given MT teaches handshakes are a part of effective communication, I thought this experience would be worth sharing.

I was invited to a technical forum as an advisor this weekend and was making my way around the room trying to make contacts after the event had ended.  The director of the organization sponsoring the forum approached me and extended his right hand as if to shake hands.  I thought this was a little odd because I had just shook his hand a few minutes ago.  Oddness aside, I stepped forward and offered my best MT handshake but at the moment our hands clasped, he pulled my arm to my right and put my hand directly into another person's hand, said the two of us should talk, and walked away.

I'm not particularly hung up on this but it felt both very odd and somewhat demeaning at the same time.  And, to be honest, I have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth regarding this individual.

Has anyone else experienced something along these lines?  If nothing else, I saw it as an example of an ineffective behavior to be avoided in the future.

It seems to me a simple misunderstanding.  He was trying to connect you to someone else.  Maybe you would have done it differently, but you shouldn't interpret it as demeaning.  He wanted you to be an active part of his network; that's a compliment.
