How often do you follow up on job application?

Hi all! I'm sure this has been discussed and answered on the forums. However, after searching for nearly an hour (and getting side-tracked by many, many other great discussions!), I decided to just risk the embarrassment and post it. How often should I follow up with a hiring manager? Once a week? Every other week? And when should I stop? What if the hiring manager says something like "If I'm interested I'll call you"? Should I keep calling? As always, thank you! Dani

The interview series suggests once a week for 15 weeks. Of course, if in week 4 or 8 you hear a yes or no, you probably should stop.

I think there is also a suggestion that you should use some sort of language on the front end of things about professionally and consistently following up.

Hi Dani,

If you know the next step and the time frame for when it is supposed to happen, contacting HR, or the hiring manager a few days after that deadline has past is a good method. I usually wait anywhere between 2-5 days after the deadline depending on the relationship I have developed with the hiring manager.

If I call and do not make a direct connection and end up leaving a message and do not get a response in 2 days, I call back again.

Hope this helps. I agree with you on your comment searching the forum is getting difficult due to all the posts and subjects. A challenge for Mike to figure out, and a sign of the great success they are having here.

Good Luck.
