Have a new rep that started a few weeks back. The rep went off to new hire training and then I was out of town (in mgt training, of all things) for the following week. My boss kept telling me how "hungry" he thought the rep was during the interview process. The rep now seems to be average and not very "driven" at all. How can I let her know that I am not seeing that hunger while keeping it positive?

The "creating a sense of urgency podcast" suggests a very simple method: specify exactly what is to be done by when (time, not date) and hold folks to that deadline.

This really works. Set the bar high, and coach her if she needs it.
