Its highly motivating to spend time with others who are 'good management minded' and hopefully more will join this month!

Our recurring date has been the last wednesday of the month, but its flexible with enough interest.

The last month meet up was our best turn out yet! See last month's thread to hear what folks had to say... http://www.manager-tools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1751

Please respond to this thread if you plan to attend, and feel free to invite others who are interested in good management practices.

Thanks, and we hope you'll join us!

Has it already been a month? Phew!

If you didn't know already my wife and I just got back from Guatemala with our new son. Needless to say I have been really busy thinking and planning for that.

I didn't realize the meet up was already here. I would like to come but I am not sure if I will be able to make it all the way out to Buca after work on Wed. Especially with Jadon just arriving. We'll see.

If I don't make it, have a great time and I will look forward to hearing how it went.

Can't make it this time around. I'm in Chicago...unfortunately for me, they just had their first meet - up about a week ago, so I just missed it.

See you all next time.

We met at Buca di Beppo in Alpharetta, GA for a great night discussing various management topics. There were three really interesting discussions brought up that generated a lot of good feedback and discussion:

1. We listened to a real-life interviewing case brought up by one participant who is job hunting, and we all made suggestions as to how to continue to pursue a job after you have been told a new, better-connected candidate has been handed down from up-high "Please take a look at this guy."

2. We talked about how to best handle a job interviewing situation in a foreign country with a different culture demanding adaptation to how they do things in order to pursue the job. Many suggestions were given by participants with international experience.

3. We also discussed the topic of having pre-arranged backup between our reports so that when one calls in sick, The Plan will kick into action and the manager will need not do anything other than wish the employee to get better. This generated a discussion about whether or not particular work is always suited to being delegated down to that level and how big of a ball assignments are.

We talked about being raised in the South and made some fun of life in Georgia. I am a native Georgian and did most of the fun-making, so we're absolved from any potential legal action or political media hounds holding marches on our doorsteps ;) .

It was a great time. We had three different varieties of pizza, and we shared wine and beer with one another, learned some things, shared ideas, and went home after three hours of good company.

Thanks everyone for participating!
