I've been a manager for about 1 year. Last week I made my first offer to an external candidate. I used the "How to Make a Job Offer" podcast. It worked exceedingly well AND I got some feedback.
The candidate accepted.
And now the rest of the story...
The candidate happens to be a neighbor of my Senior VP (that's three levels up, by the way). He apparently told my Senior VP *very* nice things about how I handled the interviewing process and that the offer really wow'ed him. I received good feedback from my SVP the very next day!
Thank you Mark and Mike!

SWEET! Great job. The credit always goes to the one in the ring.
And, might one assume that you made that offer on behalf of a large technology firm?

Yes, that's a correct assumption.
