My company currently has several positions open, so I've been doing a lot of interviewing lately. Most of the people I'm talking to are not going to be reporting to me, so I'm maybe the third of fourth person they speak to. Usually, the previous interviewer brings the candidate to my office after finishing up.

Invariably, the colleague bringing the candidate to my office introduces me by my full name, and often my title. So here's my question: when I go to shake the candidate's hand, should I re-introduce myself--say, "Hi, I'm Cory" even though my colleague just said my name?

I remember a recent post Mark made about Condi Rice introducing herself, even though she's one of the most famous people in the world. I am, by no means, famous. However, I feel awkward re-introducing myself after just being introduced.

Anybody have thoughts?

Say -- Hi Joe, I'm Cory.

I like that. It also reinforces that you're 'Cory' not 'Mr. Wagner' or something similar.

Cory-

I'm sorry this has taken me so long. I regret my absence.

WVH is right. I do it a little differently. I say, "Hi, I'm Mark." I do NOT say their name, IN THIS SITUATION, as I want to hear them say it.

Again, my apologies for my delay.
