I was promoted to director at a power plant about a month ago after serving in progressively responsible roles there for the past few years (and many more years' experience elsewhere). It was my first opportunity at having responsibility for the whole operation. With seven managers and supervisors as direct reports on my team to manage an organization of about 250 people, I knew my management and leadership skills were going to be challenged. My employer had paid for an executive coach for the last 6 months and I learned much from her. But I have to say that I have learned more from Manager Tools (I've been doing 2-a-day on my commutes) than from her and 2 years of B-school put together. AND IT'S FREE! HOW CAN YOU GUYS GIVE THIS STUFF AWAY!!?? Not that I'm complaining. I am impressed by the commitment you've both made and I hope you succeed beyond your wildest expectations. I've put so much of what you offer to work. This stuff works -- and the handshakes are killer! Thanks and keep it up.

Lou-

We give this stuff away to help people JUST LIKE YOU. We're not exactly communists - we like to pay our bills... but we believe that there are too many managers just like you, that deserve good advice and a resource that will help you be a great leader and manager to thousands (we hope to touch millions someday) of employees.

We're thrilled we're helping... and we chuckle at the popularity of a cast about handshakes.

Bottom Line: We do this for you.

Mark,

probably this is the sign that we are living in a too materialistic word where people feel strange that value is given away for free ?!

You live in your world, I'll live in mine!

All the best,
