I need some advice on what to give friends who have offered to help me with the job search. They have all asked for a copy of my resume. I usually follow the MT advice and create a custom resume for each position along with a cover letter. This is a more generic request not tailored to a specific job.
What do I give to them? I am thinking of giving a longer form resume (2 pages) since I can't tailor the resume for a specific role. I'm also thinking of giving an introduction letter to use as a way to introduce myself to whomever they give the resume over to.
Many of the friends are not in the industry I currently work in but I don't want to look away at any possible opportunities or lose out on goodwill from friends.
Any advice on this approach? Any samples of an introduction letter that may be helpful?
