I was wondering if any of the M-T community has volunteered through Taproot Foundation or other organizations that match professionals with part-time (3-5 hrs/wk) pro bono projects for nonprofits. (www.taprootfoundation.org)

I attended an orientation session for Taproot yesterday and was impressed. I think I can offer more value with my knowledge of marketing and project management than I can by being “another set of hands.” And since too many nonprofit funders view talent development, technology, and marketing as “overhead,” these projects seem to provide a great value for the orgs they serve. (Plus, it can’t hurt to include volunteer experience on my resume if it directly relates to my professional skills…)

But I don’t know yet. Does anyone have experience with Taproot or similar orgs? If you do, any advice for success in this arena?
