Just finished listening to PM-Podcast episode 161 and 162. In it the outgoing CEO and incoming CEO of PMI (Project Management Institute).
It was great to hear them talk about how they not only did a multi year succession plan for the new CEO, who had been the COO, to take over his bosses job, but they have also do succession planning for every senior management job in PMI. Once a quarter they go through a review process that includes what potential successors need to do to develop themselves for the potential job.
Listening to them I kept asking myself "Were Mike and Mark hired by PMI". It sure sounded like they were working right from the MT playbook.
