I have recently started looking for a new career opportunity. Every position I have obtained up until now came about through my network with my resume being merely a formality. My resume alone has never generated an opportunity for an interview or even call.

My resume is obviously broke.

Realizing a ton of variables exists from one person's resume to the next, what style of resume have you, the Manager Tools Community, had successful outcomes?  Successful outcomes mean receiving an opportunity for an interview with little to no network help.

Through my research in creating a new resume, I have encountered two distinct schools of thought: 1. The typical "Sample Resume" that’s focused on being aesthetically pleasing, has a paragraph of job responsibilities with bulleted job accomplishments, etc Example: http://www.resume-resource.com/exex3.html and 2.  Very concise, to the point.  with less focus on being aesthetically pleasing.
