I was recently asked to participate in a 360 degree review of my immediate supervisor. Based upon the recommendations in the podcast, I choose not to participate by not accepting the terms and conditions on the vendor's website.

1. Not briefed in advance

2. Not regularly performed in my organization

3. We are large organization; however, my supervisor has only four directs

4. An external firm is conducting the review.

Did I make the right decision?

Thank you.

Dave,

It depends on your relationship with your boss, and the goals you want to achieve in your organization.  If your three peers submitted responses, your boss may likely pinpoint you as the person that didn't respond.  As unethical as that is, it may happen.  You should probably be prepared to answer why.

I believe, rather than being right, it's most beneficial to consider what's effective.
