Greetings all. I work on the science side in a state environmental protection agency, and have reason to believe I'll be tapped for a management position. We're short one manager because no one wants the job! In an office where management has a bad name, I think I can make more of a contribution by being a great manager than by being a good scientist.
I am enjoying the podcasts, and am looking forward to following the conversations in the forum.

Welcome. Management in science organizations has some particular challenges, as does management in government and quasi-government situations. But, if you're where it sounds like you are, you can potentially do a great deal of good if you get the right balance of confidence and humility, and use the tools Mike & Mark teach.

Hello and welcome. I, too, found Manager Tools as a non-manager and, 5 months later, I got tapped. Whether I am any good has yet to be determined but I am sure that the advice I got here brought me where I am today and will lead me in the right direction in the future. I am sure the same will happen for you. Good luck.
