Hi Mark & Mike,
In today's Career Tools podcast (90 Day New Job Plan) you mentioned, again, the number of relationships between parents and kids, and how it grows significantly with a small change. Coincidentally I stumbled across other content today which referenced something similar and after a bit of research, I can officially put a name to a concept! It's a networking (telecom) term called Metcalfe's Law.
Mike probably knew this from his MCI days, and (not but) I wanted to share a little knowledge and thank you again for the wisdom you regularly impart.

Also check out Granovetter's paper "The Strength of Weak Ties"
It's a little technical (so a synopsis would be a better read) but it basically talks about the importance of having a network that includes people from various disciplines not just your own.
