In preparation for the interview weakness question, I was thinking of using "time management". However, I'm not sure if this would be a great choice considering I'm applying for a director position (in academic libraries).
I thought it was fairly innoccuous...much like the "I forget things" weakness. I know not everyone is familiar with the environment, but I would think it would be akin to many management positions.
Any suggestions?

Be more specific?
I wouldn't give a blanket "time management" weakness, rather pinpoint something in that phrase. For example, if I say I am not good at time management you could interpret that to mean:
- I miss deadlines on a regular basis OR
- I spend too much time on minor projects & never have time for major ones OR
- I am disorganized OR
- I am unable to delegate effectively OR
- I struggle with focus (maybe I have ADHD?) OR.....
To me, time management means you miss deadlines. It may mean something else to you entirely. Be specific about your weakness, don't leave me guessing what you mean. It may take some self-reflection to determine that. Good luck on your interview.
Thanks!
I appreciate your response. You are absolutely on target. Thanks for helping me fleshing out this point.
Look for another weakness
I wouldn't use time management as a weakness for a Director / management position. Time management is an important part of management. I'd look for something else that is less critical to the role.
tangible
I like to use something that is tangible and where I can show how I am dealing with it. My typical answer is:
I forget things. If I don't write it down, it is gone from memory in 5 minutes. To make up for this I keep a journal or notebook with me and make sure that my to-do, follow-ups and important thoughts get written down. I have also found this journal to be a excellent tool for doing my weekly recap and planing for the next week.
Of course I have my notebook with me, usually on the table. Its a small thing but it reinforces that it is something I am dealing with.
My other weakness is spelling. I spell worse than a 5th grader. Here I rely on a spellchecker, put things away and proofread the next day or have a co-worker review communications before they go out. I don;t like to use this as an example though, I feel is shows that I don't pay attention to details or a sloppy.
