Gday Mates,
Im new to manager tools (and to management of DR) so I've been spending a lot of time catching up on all the key stuff.
However, I think I missed a step along the way and can't figure where I went wrong.

What are 03s? (Even typing it, it sounds like a dumb question. Sorry about that, but darn it Im not going to miss out on this)

Are they different to the one on ones where I deliver feedback? If you could point me to a cast I missed or a post I should read that would truly be helpfull in bringing me up to speed.

And big thanks for creating a source for this information. Actual, implimentable behaviours are like gold. And you guys got a ton of Bling!

One on ones aren't necessarily feedback. There's a series of 'casts on One on Ones - 'The single most effective management tool'. There are two of them, both in July of '05.

I would suggest the coaching podcasts, as well, since they tie into the O3's.

If you want to get fancy (and sometimes you do), make sure you register so you have access to the DISC series, as well.

There's a *lot* there.

(And the only 'stupid' question is the one that goes unasked. Especially around here!)

O3s are just one on ones. It's an abbreviation - an acronym. See all those "O"s lined up, three in a row? Easier to type...and I type that a LOT. :D

I like to use '1on1s' vs 'O3s' for some reason ... more typing but maybe clearer?!?

I'm the shortcut keyboard queen (it's great fun to really flummox someone who thinks they know everything there is to know about a computer by giving them a keyboard shortcut they *didn't* know). O3's for me!

Ohhhhh! Now I get it.
Its more like O to the power of 3....

How ever you say it, I did my second one today with one of my guys and the gratitude for providing him with feedback and the opportunity to discuss his work direction blew me away.

I was trying to work out how I was going to quickly establish myself and make my mark.... I just worked it out!

Congratulations! I know for me it's made a world of difference - I know who is engaged, who is invested, who is distracted, who I can help, and how. I absolutely use that to my and their benefit.

(When I say O3 I either say it out 'one on one' or 'Oh Three' depending on the audience).
