 Dear Mike,

I read the an article in the Burke Patch online, "Update: More than 80,000 without power in Northern Virgina, DC". It made me think twice about being able to wake up to a warm house, a coffee pot grinding away, and electricity running for the lights in my home. I hope you and your family are keeping safe through the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. And to all the MTers in the North East, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Be careful, and please let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

Another thought: what a great opportunity for great managers! As the rain slows and the clouds part, we'll need managers to set lofty goals (like the ones Mike mentioned in the 2006 development cast) for getting power back on in days rather than weeks. We'll managers who can use coaching, feedback and O3s effectively to keep moral up and people productive as rescue workers start to "rest and straggle after ripe black berries". In the wake of this storm, let's show the world what we can do!

All the best!
