My DR went over my head to complain about a company decision to close his office and he took the opportunity to also complain about me.  I believe the words "no collaboration" were used.

He's been very difficult to work with, is senior, came from a merged company and is in general disrespectful - I am his new manager as of about 5 months ago, just 3 months after the merger.

I think he's taking his merger frustration out on me, but admit that we haven't necessarily hit it off.  He seems to resent any directive from me, regardless how small (time to change your e-mail signature, we've been merged for 8 months now . . .) or large (you need to introduce your colleagues to your clients so we can introduce the capabilities of the new firm).

Are there any tips for me to make this work?  Especially now that it's elevated and so highly visible?
