Forums

 Hi Everyone,

My name is Chris and I currently work as a Department Administrator at a large research university. My roles include financial management, strategic planning, research administration, and facilities management. I lead a staff of 6 direct reports working in IT, finance, admin support, and student services. I also work closely with the dean's office staff (think upper management) in my college.

I stumbled on the MT podcasts two weeks ago. It was as if someone turned on a light in a dark room. I've been looking for this kind of practical, actionable, brass tacks information since my first management job in 1997... I see a premium content subscription in my future. I've learned quite a bit on my own, but MT goes a long way towards filling in the gaps.

This week, I started O3's with my staff. It's been interesting to see who was resistant, who jumped right on board, and who thought they'd done something wrong because I was asking for a weekly meeting when we'd previously met only once per month!

I look forward to seeing you all in the forums and sharing both successes and struggles.

Hello Chris,

Welcome to the forums. Congrats on starting O3s...they are truly the most powerful management tool.

You'll find current and former Michiganders on the forums here.

Looking forward to you joining the conversations...
