Have you ever hired a former mentor?

I've got an opportunity to hire someone that, a decade ago, hired me and mentored me into leadership. Has anyone ever hired someone that used to be their boss? Is the dynamic uncomfortable? Can you be effective with someone that taught you much of what you know reporting to you?
