Hello

I have a group Skype interview for a Sr. Manager job with an multi-national organization outside the US and it is down to me and three others. Its with the hiring manager, HR and 2-3 Directors from other departments brought in for their technical knowledge. No stress at all, right?

Having listened to the salary and Skype interview casts, I'd like to get you advice about  handling the salary question in this setting. I gave a very wide range in the screening interview. Is it appropriate to defer it because people from outside the department are there and the salary structure is likely different for their areas?

I was considering a response like this:

“While I've previously given a pay range, I'm uncomfortable discussing my salary expectations with such a large group. I'd be happy to have this conversation with Ms. A (hiring manager) and Mr. B (HR.) upon completing this group interview. Having said that, based on my research about the organization and the current labor market I believe my expectations are in alignment the position.”

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
