Hi Everyone,

Joseph from Singapore (originally from the Philippines)

Unfortunate as it was to be able to find out about Manager Tools only in the 2nd half of this year, I'm happy I stumbled upon it and now striving to catch up with the great podcasts. I specially like the DISC podcasts (still trying to find out where exactly I fall)

I'm currently an IT Manager in the non-profit sector dealing with 5 countries and I can pleasantly say that a lot of the soft skills covered in MT translates quite well in this region.

More power to you Mark and Mike, keep up the good work!!

Joseph-

Welcome aboard! We're glad you're with us and getting value from our work.

Don't feel bad about catching on "late". Imagine some folks 10 years from now...!

Hey Joseph,

My son is in business in Indo. He lives 45 minutes from Singapore and does a lot of marketing there. He has cousins that live in the Philippines.

Blessings,

Dave

Hi Dave, wow, what a coincidence!

I've got a cousin in Indonesia and several relatives in the US :)

Let me know when you pass thru this region we may be able to touch bases

Btw, what business is your son in if you donn't mind my asking?

Cheers
Joseph

Joseph,

Our son is involved in ethno tourism. They have developed a "resort" type complex on an island south of Batam. They give people cultural experiences with island villages. In some tourist magazines their "resort" is rated quite highly. I put the word in quotes because they call it "rustic elegance". It's not a five star experience by any means.

Also they do leadership development and some strategic planning work for corporations based in Singapore. They come their complex and there are meeting rooms etc. and they do training using seminars, workshops, etc.

Thanks for the reply and the questions and when we do come through Singapore the next time I'll let you know. It would be fun to meet you in person.

Blessings,

Dave

Hi dmbaldwin,
Is your son Eric? If so, then I've met up with him to discuss biz about 2x. I'm based in Singapore. We have been making plans to visit the resort, with Singapore student leaders on community development projects at the villages in 2008.

Best,
Noel :D

Yes, you got it!!! I'm very proud of him. I have been to their resort and I think you will just love it!

What kind of business are you in?

Blessings,

Dave

Hi dmbaldwin,
I run a learning and development consultancy in Singapore. My passion is in working with young people to develop self- and team leadership. Hence, sometime in 2005, I was introduced to Eric by a pastor friend of mine.

The wonders of the internet for you there. Since you are interested in the English Premier League like I am, you must feel great that after 3 months of waiting, the season has started. I support Tottenham Hotspur, and like many Spurs fans, I am disappointed that we've lost our first 2 opening games. Well there's 36 games to go and I'm ever hopeful!

Best,
Noel

Hi Noel,

Thanks so much for your reply. It sounds like you and Eric have a lot in common. I'm going to let him know we have been chatting on this site. He should probably join the forum too.

As far as Premiership Football goes, I'm a Newcastle United fan and we won our first outing against Bolton. I read an article -- I can't remember where -- that was from a U.S.A. perspective. The author went through every team in the Premeirship ranking them on what team was the best to cheer for. Guess who he picked as #3? Yup, Newcastle United. But guess who he picked as #1? Yup, Totenham Hotspur!!! So you have a GREAT team there. The season is young so don't get down. We'll have to keep up and talk when Newcastle plays the Spurs!

Blessings,

Dave

Hi dmbaldwin,
I've sent Eric an email about meeting you here and he was surprised too.

I've been supporting Spurs since the 80s, when I was a kid. So I'm a pretty die-hard fan, despite the decades of non-achievement by the team, hence I'm with them all the way. I must admit that sometimes it's really infuriating and you really want to give them up for all the heartache they give you.

Well, as you said, the season's still young and there's still 108 points up for grabs. It's Friday here, so do have a great weekend ahead.

Best,
