Over the past twenty years, I have traveled to Asia about half a dozen times and frequent receive technical teams from Asia (one or two a year). Most hosts in Asia present small gifts of local artistry to visitors. Similarly visiting teams bring small gifts for their host.
What have people found that works well as gifts in return that represent local America? In some cases, being from Ohio, Ohio State University baseball caps work well (Go Buckeyes). Yet, for a large trade team that can be expensive and it is not suitable for everyone.
What have others found helpful as gifts, particularly for a new contact where you may have limited background information?

Size, price, packaging and number
I understand that in Japan four properties of a present are important: You already mention the size (must be small), others are price (must be expensive), packaging (must be elaborate and artful) and number (never give anything in fours, in Japan nor China).
