Hey all! The best way to communicate with my boss is verbally, in person. He often misreads emails, so it's not a good way to communicate. However, he travels a lot (including internationally) and likes to work remotely, so we still rely on email. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to email effectively with someone who isn't great with email?

What has been helpful for me is to try and rely more on phone calls. If your boss doesn't answer, leave a good voicemail (you may want to listen ton the voicemail cast). If your boss does answer, then you can go over the information in as much or as little detail as needed. After I leave a voicemail, I often like to send an email as well. Something along the lines of, "Hey Boss. I left you a voicemail, but I often like to have key pieces of info written as well. Here's my status on Project X. We are waiting for A from the project management team, and we are waiting for B from the marketing team. I have a question for you on C. Can you call me back when you have a second?"

Good luck!
