As usual, I enjoyed (am enjoying) the "Don't Get Rid of Your Performance Reviews" series. Amusingly, there is a recent Strategy+Business piece on this topic: Want to Kill Your Performance Rankings? Here’s How to Ensure Success.
They focus on the performance review part, not the succession planning work that Mark and Mike focus upon.
Their solution? Move to more frequent performance conversations. This sounds familiar.
