I have been thinking about trying to roll out the MT Trinity with my team but am not sure if that would be wise. Anyone work in the retail industry for a 24 hour store with 18 or so directs that has successfully rolled out the trinity? Or should I just finish school and hope to find another job and eventually move up to management again and then roll it out?

It's not the environment
The trinity is not based on the workplace environment, therefore I see no reason why it wouldn't work for you. Your environment of a 24-hour store presents different challenges, for example, scheduling and perhaps privacy. Other environments where directs are remote present challenges as well, but effective managers find solutions.
Try it. What have you got to lose?
Thanks for the push! Your
Thanks for the push! Your absolutely right. Why would I not want to develop relationships with my people simply because it might be difficult?
Oh heck yes!
I've been a manager if a number of industries, principally IT (20 years) but I did 5 years in retail and I cannot see how it cannot be applied in any industry.
You may need to modify the method of delivery (In IT I can have sit down meeting with my directs but in Retail it was more so when I could get 20-30 minutes) but the principles hold true because it's all about management and it's all about people.
The guys give a lot of method of delivery that have a context for delivery based on their experience and that may not be the same as yours. That doesn't make the message any less relevant, it just means that you may need to modify things for your specific implementation.

A bit more encouragement... Just in case you need it
I don't work in the retail industry, but sometimes i go to shops (in Chile where store service is more often than not, not good) and think to myself that some one-on-ones , feedback and coaching with the staff would do wonders in the service provided.
actually, once i was in Starbucks in Chile, and the superviser was having a one-on-one, sitting at one of the coffee tables, with an employee and giving her feedback. The feedback was that She should not take it personal when a client responded agressively to her, and was correcting the employee on how she had reacted under the "attach" by the client. I was really impressed! of course, it made sence, how else could they achieve the same kind of service everywhere? She was teaching the girl to take responsibility over her own actions regardless of the actions of the others. A characteristic i think perhaps no-one is born with and which very few parents seem to teach their kids.
Go ahead do the one-on-ones however you can, even standing in a corner of the shop at a time there are few customers. You already know it Will make a positive difference. And let us know how it goes.
good luck,
nara
I am going for it!
I am purchasing the Trinity Rollout assistance to help me do it. This has never been done in at least the last eight years that I have been with the company. I feel so psyched up right now! If successful, this will make a monumental change in my company.

Go get 'em!
Good luck, Paul Michael. Keep focused on the outcome, but expect there to be some bumps in the road, an associate that doesn't "get" O3's, a supervisor who, because he was successful without doing them doesn't see why you should, etc.
But hang in there and outlast the doubters. You'll also get better as you gain experience. As someone on both ends of O3's, I know they work.

It has been nearly two months
I am still only able to do biweekly O3's and I am working on converting to weekly. My boss and his bosses think the O3s are great for employee engagement. That felt pretty good hear, too.
Do you think it wise to start Positive Feedback yet after just 8 weeks and only four one-on-ones per direct? I have worked with my team for three years and have listened to manager tools for about two years but I only started the MT Trinity Rollout since January 2013. Keep in mind that I work in a 24 hour national retail pharmacy in Dallas, TX.
