When they truly become an executive, most professionals vastly underestimate how far distant they are perceived to be by their people. The gap is significant compared to reality, and definitely compared to the exec's perception, and enormous when compared to the perceptions and assumptions of your front line workers, and your managers, and even your directors, and in many cases even your direct reports.
If we don't do anything about it, our ability to communicate - because all communication is persuasion - is decimated. We need to help our organizations work with us.
