Too many junior executives think there is an executive career ladder. There isn't.
Most professionals assume that "career ladders" are something like Jacob's Ladder, from the Bible. THAT ladder went all the way to heaven. The thinking is that once you start a career, you have to manage to be successful, stay on the ladder, and someday you will have a chance to get to heaven. Most think of "heaven" as being named CEO somewhere, someday.
These professionals are wrong.
