People find themselves interviewing for jobs for which they're over-qualified for all sorts of reasons. Of course, a layoff is one, but sometimes it's about family or health, or another reason. Interviewers are often very blunt and just ask: "why do you want this job, when you are clearly overqualified?", and so it's as well to have an answer prepared.
