Part 2 of our guidance on writing a good BLUF
The world got the idea of BLUF from the American marines. It stands for Bottom Line Up Front, and it's a way to communicate the most important thing (the bottom line) quickly and efficiently. Not every email demands BLUF. When you want a decision or an answer BLUF is perfect. We see so many people mess it up though. BLUF isn't a paragraph. BLIM and the BLAE (Bottom Line In the Middle and Bottom Line At the End) are sometimes funny but rarely helpful. Here's how to write a good BLUF.
