To better be able to delegate parts of your job, it's best to be transparent about your job.

If you want to help your directs develop, one thing to do is to delegate parts of your job to them. The best way for this to happen is for you and them to know what it is you do. Not just your role, but your activities – what you actually do. (Sorry in advance, you can't delegate email willy-nilly just because you spend a ton of time doing it). Lots of managers can't identify what to delegate because they don't know well enough what they do. Here's how to change that.

This Cast Answers These Questions

  • How can I prepare my directs for promotion?
  • How can I know how I'm spending my time?
  • How do I know what parts of my job to delegate?
