Finding Info About Companies

I'm currently updating my resume and beggining a job search and one item that I struggle with is finding information about companies.

I always do visit the companies website to find information and also conduct Google searches on the company to find any recent news.

In this tough economical time, one thing I also try to determine is the financial health of the organization.  If the company is publicly traded, then I usually check out any information on Yahoo Finance.

Unfortunately, when it is a private company I do not know of a lot of good places to look for this information.  Does anyone use a regular battery of sites to find this information or other information about private companies?

Also, are there other sites for publicly traded companies I could look at?

Looking forward to your posts,

Sincerely,

Jay2k

The company 10K and 10Q reports are worth reading carefully if you're concerned about a public company's health.
Private companies are tougher.  Try networking - does someone you know, know someone who has info?
Finally, think industry:  is the industry / sector growing (energy) or shrinking (newspapers)?

Try Hoovers Database, you may have to pay for an account or find someone that has one to do the search for you.

Awesome for information about companies public and private.
