Getting Fired - Part 1

This cast gives our guidance on what to do when you're about to be or have been fired.

Mark often compares being fired to the scene in a film which references the Winston Churchill quote: There is nothing so exhilarating as being shot at without result. When you've never been fired, you imagine it as being the absolute worst thing that could possibly happen.

Once it's happened to you though, you know it's not so bad. No-one is gone, your family still love you and you still have skills. It also not impossible to get another job after you've been fired. All the best people have been fired at least once.

Of course, there are better and worse ways to behave when you're in this situation. Help yourself by following the guidance in this cast.

tone

I appreciate the tone of this podcast. Thanks.

A great podcast from one going through it

Well, I have to admit what drew me to this podcast was the result of my supervisor letting me know that I could attempt to work through the issues. Then it was followed by well you're improve in some areas  but .. you could work through the other issues still  or take a mutual agreement offer. And of course even though I could work through the issues they didn't really see a positive end. So do I have options I'm thinking not.

It appears that I'm force to take the mutual agreement that I have not seen or ever heard about the company having. But its a standard process. I'm thinking not.

Yes, this can happen and even if you believe you are working through it and making progress sometimes the decision has already been made. Take heart, you are not your job. List to these podcasts on a regular basis and they will help you in your professional work life no matter what comes.

Another  heads up is to not feel force to sign anything unless you are comfortably with it or have had a legal opinion given on it  Yes, you can be professional to the end but you also have to perform your own personal due diligence.

I've re-listening to the interview podcasts as my new adventures and a happy work life await.

Take care and keep up the good work from a long time listener.

Good podcast - close to home

I have been unemployed a lot longer than I ever thought I would be.  I have gone to Career Counselors and networking like crazy.  The CC tell me I am doing all the right things but I am getting very few hits.

The information about not worrying was right on.  My wife just got told her division will be shut down within a year so I'm going to get her to listen to the podcast too.
