I initiated the Trinity in my workplace as per the timeline recommended at the Conference I attended in Sydney last October. The response from my directs was overwhelmingly positive, and the one-on-ones have been ongoing ever since they started (apart from days that one party is absent from work on Leave for an extended time). All directs participate fully and the time flies. It surprised a few that they went so well - in the first session the ones that said this don't take anything like 30 minutes have proven to be the ones that have the most to say. I have had some staff turnover - I actively develop and promote my workers so view this as an achievement I can share with them when staff move on and up. Staff who have left have told me that they miss the O3s (as they don't happen in their new workplaces), and staff that come into the workplace readily enter the process as they hear good things about it from their peers. I have always been heavily results orientated and my Social Work background has assisted me in relating with staff. My workplace has always been one of the highest performers for Corrective Services in the State. One of the outcomes has been that directs are now more willing to go the extra step and are much more supportive of each other. This is a win for the workers, the workplace, the clients, and the agency. Regardless of the political situation staff genuinely appear to be happier in the workplace - and this is a huge achievement given that the public service continues to be pilloried by the press, cut and under resourced by the Govt, and under-appreciated by much of the general public.
