“I have to echo the previous comment that this conference was the best conference I have ever attended.
It exceeded and surpassed all my expectations.”
- Steve Holden, April attendee
More about our agenda:
Day 1: Where else would we start but with the Management Trinity?
One on Ones - The basics, and taking them to the next level.
Feedback - An overview, your questions, and — practice, practice, practice!
Coaching - Mark’s New Effective Coaching Model! Four Steps, easier to understand, easier to use, faster.
Day 1 Evening: We’re hosting you for dinner and cocktails. We’ll talk about management and leadership, and get to know each other better. You’ll leave this conference with 75 managers added to your personal network, ready to call in an instant.
Day 2: We’ll start by practicing the new Effective Coaching Model - you’ll love it. Also:
Priority Management: What an Effective Manager does every day and every week.
NEW! Effective Performance Management: How an Effective Manger connects day to day to annual goals. Like everything else we do, it’s simple and powerful.
Both Days:
Practice: You will practice feedback and coaching and other skills repeatedly. Individual Attention: When you practice, one of our coaching staff will be watching and providing feedback.
Open Q&A: At our meals, and at the end of both days, we’ll throw it open to questions. Come ready to have your questions answered . . . all of them!
We promise, when you’re done — you’ll be spent! And somehow, still energized to go back to work even more excited about managing and leading — and living.
“This is the best manager training I have attended in my career.
By a wide margin. Do yourself a huge favor: As soon as registration opens … sign up!”
- Paul Moriarty, April Attendee

You guys should get this grammar correct: “Please join Mark and I in Amsterdam!” It should be “Mark and me”.

Of course … thanks. Sorry this had to be the impetus for your first comment.

May I make a polite suggestion with a bit of humor ‘thrown’ in?
If you’re going to throw stones, you shouldn’t build a glass house made of quotation marks inside your period.
We listen better to suggestions made with a little grace and forgiveness.

Hi Mark,
Could I get a pdf copy of the manual presented at the San Antonio Conference? I am a premium content subscriber. My email is gkupchinski@bourgault.com.
I and 5 co-workers attended the San Antonio Conference and I must say we were very thankful of the content and what we learned. Those of us that have directs have begun using the one on ones and we are now even more thankful. This is the greatest tool I have as a manager and it is, without a doubt, making my team and I more effective.
Thanks
Garry

Hi Guys,
I’m a listener from last year who loved the podcast, and who’s now returning to it.
I love the material and would be interested in attending a US conference, which is easier for me to get to using frequent flyer miles given that I’m down in Australia. I’m sure you’ll announce your future conference plans on the podcast in due course, but do you have any preliminary plans for a US conference in 2008 at this stage?
Thanks,
Peter
October 12th, 2007 at 11:33 pm
Peter-
We’ve announced several times that we will have 6 conferences in 08. Amsterdam in January, Chicago in March, new York in May, San Francisco in July, San Antonio in September, and Sydney (!) in November.
Save those miles, see you in November?

Mark,
Thanks for that. I missed it.

Mark,
Do you know which conference will be the “Manager Tools 201″ version?
Thanks,
–Rich
October 13th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Rich-
Right now, none of those are 201’s. We haven’t yet figured out when and where to do 201 - whether to append it to an existing conference, or to do it on its own.
We also would like to do a conference in Atlanta, so we were thinking about there.
I suspect - but haven’t spoken to Mike about this - that if we get good traction to Chicago and New York, we’ll set it up pretty quickly.

I’ll take any excuse to visit Georgia, but a 201 Conference is a /GOOD/ excuse!

We’ll see what we can do.
As I typed this, Freebird started playing on Itunes.

Thanks for the reply, Mark. If you have a 201 conference, I’ll be there, and I don’t care where it is, as I’ll be too busy at the conference!

I second the motion on a 201 conference and Atlanta would be great. It would be galactically great if it happens to be scheduled near a Braves homestand. What could be better than Manager Tools preceded or followed by baseball? Both together would be mutlitasking to the extreme.

Dears Mike and Mark:
I might be a little dumb, but I can’t find a detailed agenda (activities and required time slots) of the event. I’m arriving on the 28th so I do not know if we should organize an informal gathering (read: dinner) for the ones arriving the afternoon/evening before.

I was really excited when I saw that you were doing a conference in Amsterdam and have finally got permission from my boss to attend. I am signed up and paid with my own credit card to make sure of a place, but my admin people are asking whether there is a more detailed programme for the conference before they reimburse me?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Are there plans for additional Manager Tools conferences in the US in 2008? I am very excited about attending in 2008 and want to get a date on my calendar now!

November 5th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
Leslie-
We will be in Chicago in March, and we have further plans for New York in May, San Francisco in July, San Antonio in September, and Sydney Australia in November 08. There is a possibility that the San Antonio conference will be an advanced one, and we will have a standard conference in Atlanta in Q3 or Q4.
Hope that helps!
Mark

Looks like I’ll be going back to San Antonio next year then

You mentioned in one of your previous podcasts that London 2009 is a possibility? As a Yank working in England for the past six years I would love to have a good ole dose of motivation and management training that is sorely lacking in this country. Thank you for being such a fantastic tool and I will be joining as a premium member today to say well done!

Mike,
I’m confused. I know I have to PAY for the hotel, but do I have to make the reservation too? I know you probably told us already and I wasn’t listening, so I ‘ll try harder!

Sorry if we weren’t clear.

We haven’t made our 2009 plans yet, but London is certainly a possibility. If so, we hope to see you there!

I’d like to sign up early for the New York conference (Manhattan?) - When will registration for that conference begin? Cost?
December 11th, 2007 at 12:54 am
Is the Amsterdam conference full?
December 11th, 2007 at 1:27 am
bholman,
No, we still have a few slots available for the Amsterdam conference.
Tom, we’re not quite ready to announce the details on the New York conference …. I’ll let you know as soon as we have that nailed.

Mike

Is there a remote chance that you could come to Australia in the future?
December 11th, 2007 at 1:24 pm
nateh,
Yes! Although we don’t have the details finalized yet, we’ll be in Australia in November 2008.
Hope to see you there!

I hope you all will have a great time in Amsterdam.
I would really like to be part of the conference but I’m at home using the Interviewing Series for a job that I am applying. Daily recordings, accomplishments, leadership style question. The works. Great Stuff Mike and Mark.
So I can’t use my present employers money for this conference under these circumstances.
Learn a lot and see you next time in Europe

Just landed back in London from the Amsterdam conference.
Wow - I thought the podcasts were great, but getting it straight from Mike and Mark was just amazing. The energy and commitment from the whole team was incredible.
Thanks to everybody (including of course Kate).
To those who hesitated about coming, make sure you book-up early next time.
