Hi everyone
A VP I know volunteered to make an introduction to someone fairly senior in another company. The company is currently advertising for a position that is a good fit for me.
He just emailed me and asked "Would you prefer the standard "ability to walk on water" reference or is there something special you want me to say?"
The VP is a gifted speaker and speaks with great enthusiasm naturally. Are there any guidelines as to what to ask him to say or not say?
With much appreciation,

What instructions do you give someone who is referring you?
Let him do it. You only know you. He knows you, the other company, and the other guy. He won't say what you want..but he will say what the other guy wants. And the other guy is who's important right now.

Yayyyyy! (does a happy dance)
I guessed right. My VP wanted to make the call asap as he he had to leave the office, so I sent him the job description. I said if anything jumps out at you, emphasize it, otherwise I trust your influencing skills.
Thanks Mark. Have a great weekend.
