I watched this TED video this morning. Shawn Achor discusses the relationship between happiness and work. No-Surprise Spoiler: The happier you are, the better your performance and the higher your satisfaction.

What struck me most was the 5 things at the end of the video that "create lasting, positive change" in terms of your happiness.

  1. Gratitude
  2. Journaling about positive events
  3. Exercise
  4. Meditation
  5. Random acts of Kindness

#1 and #2 Reminded me that the ratio of positive feedback to negative feedback should be 9:1. Turns out that spending time looking for the awesome things your directs do every day not only reinforces their good work, it makes you a happier person too.

#5 Reminds me that good networking is always about giving.

So thanks, MT for helping me be not only a better manager, but also a happier person as well.
