Mark and Mike,
I wonder if you can recommend a cast that specifically talks about 'leadership' - ie the behaviours that are common amongst effective leaders (now, I'm kind of guessing a reply along the lines of 'all of them, to be an effective leader you must do all of the below'), but what I'm talking about is a distillation of the whole package.
I figured with your service backgrounds you'd have seen/been taught the behaviours needed of leaders and be in a great position to advise (I've read some quotes by Drucker (pasted below and am pretty inspired by 1 and 3, but I just don't understand the second one). Maybe Mark as a 'student' of Drucker might be able to explain?
- To earn and keep the trust of others. Good leaders have personal integrity and inspire trust among their followers; their actions are consistent with what they say.
