Book Review

There are so many books on strategy and big picture thinking that the humble topic of execution is often left by the side of the road in those discussions.   Which is a mistake because the best plans in the world are useless unless they are executed effectively.

As the jacket of the book says:

"Execution shows how to link together people, strategy and operations, the three core processes of every business.  Leading these processes is the real job of running a business, not formulating a "vision" and leaving the work of carrying it out to others."

This is a pragmatic, honest and prescriptive book which will appeal to Manager Tools listeners who like actionable behaviour.

I particularly liked their explanations of how to come up with strategy and financial targets (and of course to execute so those goals are realised!).

A highly recommended book on the most important neglected area of management.

This was the first professional book I read while in college. It was the first time I started to think about putting theory into practice. I suggest this book to any professional that is accountable for achieving results through their people.
