Thanks! I have given it many times to many non-profits, and have done all of that stuff myself. I ought to title it, “this is what I tell my friends.”

Loved the email/communications guideline for the DISC model in your presentation. The concrete recommendations were perfect. We will use them in addition to the DISC Summary & Cheat Sheet. Thanks for sharing your practical applications.

Mark,
About 3 or 4 weeks ago I stumbled upon the Manager - tools through iTune, and Man I feel so Blessed and Lucky!!! and I don’t know how to express my gratitude to you guys, what this site and Podcast has done for me in short 3 weeks, my 14 years of schooling and 8 years of working for some of the top class companies in the world haven’t done that.
Mark one thing I have to ask, where are those organizations and managers who practice these things, some time listing to you guys feel like you are talking about some Utopian organizations and managers….. In my short 8 years career, I have worked for KPMG Consulting/Bearing Point, E&Y, IBM Global Business Services, and have the opportunity to work some of their fortune 50 clients. But I have never had a single manager who ever practice any of the things that you are preaching… let me give you an example so that you can get an idea what I am trying to say, Your 1on1 meeting concept, I have never had any manager nor I have seen any other manager in any of the above organization, who ever even mentioned such a thing. As a matter of fact, after listing to you I took a courage to suggest the 1on1 concept to my manager who has about 5-6 direct reports, and do you know what was his response, ” Can’t waist another 3-4 hours a week”, he is a director and soon to be a VP …..
Please don’t take me wrong, I am by no means trying to dis-credit your education, just wondering where I can find these type managers and Organizations …..
But on a personal note, Since I have started listening to you, I have seen the results, especially 1on1 with my direct reports..
Great Work!!! and simply Thanks so Much for the education!!

Glad you’re getting value from our work. We do it for you.
You can find managers who do 1 on 1’s by looking in the mirror! There are NO organizations who mandate or teach this stuff, other than - sorry to have to say this - when we’re there.
It is crazy, I admit. Companies have MANUALS for how to inspect raw materials, and systems that guarantee purity of ingredients, with significant penalties. But they allow managers to do whatever they like, except when it comes to reporting and HR policies, neither of which adds any value at all.
I’m not a control freak - ask Mike - but I think companies ought to have a corporate management style, as opposed to relying on the personalities of its managers…who have never been trained in management anyway.
You can find OTHER managers who manage professionally, the Manager Tools way, spread throughout organizations - in 1’s and 2’s. And in 20 years, when I retire, there will be companies that do it this way, and there will be HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of Manager Tools managers.
It’s our pleasure to do this for you. It’s a privilege to serve you.

Mike and I secretly admit it: we hope someone looks back years from now and says, “Yes, Manager Tools started it.”
Of course, it’s not Mike and I that are doing it. It’s YOU, setting an example, working hard in a different way in front of your peers and boss and team.
That’s our goal: to transform management. Thanks for helping!

Hi Mike - I’ve worked for Frito Lay, which is a division of PepsiCo, for 14 years. When I became a manager we were taught that the most important work we do as managers is … “The Big Three”. These three include weekly one with ones, team meetings and workwiths which is an opportunity to go into the field in order to work with and coach your directs.
Weekly one with ones are very normal and expected in our business, sometimes the quality of the 1w1 varies from manager to manager but they are ingrained in our management processes. When I started listening to you I wondered if you ever spent any time at PepsiCo because your passion for 1w1’s is so familiar to me. I really enjoy listening to you and Mark because sometimes you reinforce that I’m on the right track and often you bring me something new to try out.
thanks for the great advice

I have been saying for years that I would never want to compete with Pepsi, and what you’ve shared is one of the reasons. They have long believed that management deserved to be ACTIONED, not SPOKEN.
Well done!
