The Morning Greeting

This guidance recommends greeting all of your directs when you first interact with them each morning, and how to do it.

This guidance ought to be unnecessary, but sadly, it isn’t. The short answer is, you’re never so busy as to be able to get away with ignoring your directs.

Morning walk through

Production workers have have told me fond stories of a former plant manager who would start each morning by walking through the plant and greeting people.  Everyone loved that plant manager, and he had since been promoted to vice president.

The manager got to see what was happening first hand, employees knew they better be working, and most importantly relationships were established.

Exchanging pleasantries

If you are the direct and the manager ignores you when she comes in, do the same rules (from this cast) apply for the direct?  I'm reminded of similarities to the podcast on initiating updates with your manager, which was brilliant and really helped open up communications in my office.

As manager

As manager you have to appreciate and acknowledge your employees for their efforts in order to increase employee retention. Good greeting etiquette encourages trust from employees and increases employees work satisfaction. TexasLending.com
