Passion

Why do you go to work? To pay the mortgage, to pay for your children's school, to pay for your holidays, to afford your life? To get out of the house, to meet other people, to have something to do? Or because you really love what you do?

For most people it will be a little bit of a lot of reasons. But it's amazing to me how many people wish it is Friday on Monday, wish it were 5pm at 9am, and wish lunch lasted all day. Sometimes, the entire office is empty at 5.05pm.

Even if you're currently working a high paid role you hate because you need to pay for your life, or waiting for your children to finish school so you can move to a different neighbourhood or working a role you hate because you're happy you have a job after rounds of layoffs, then focus on that reason for doing a good job. This role might not be the one you can be totally passionate about, but the reasons you're in it are.
