Drucker + Wrong = Universe Implosion

I almost drove off the road with my car when Mark's mention of "Drucker being wrong" came out of my car stereo.

Thanks Mike for getting Mark back on track, and yes, Drucker is NEVER wrong!!!

Fantastic cast!!! Does it look like "Leader Tools" could be in the works also? ;).

Gossip control?

Hi,

I thought I shouldn't create an account just to reply to your podcasts since... I'd reply to podcasts most of the time with small questions which may end up cluttering your comments board, but well if it's not pertinent just gleefully smite the comment and I shall stop.

Here goes,

I understand clearly the use to back-away from the gossip, but by running away wouldn't the gossip not snowball bigger? Bad gossip about myself isn't bad if I can handle it, but I'm thinking that if you're a manager, shouldn't you try to control it so that it does not hurt someone in a professional matter (control in a way of finding the root)? If you are there to "protect" your directs from being slandered, shouldn't you still keep track of the ongoing gossip (a gossip secret agent?) and the one that may snowball out of control so to protect coworkers by finding the root of evil.

Grammar Girl?

I love the comment about Grammar Girl when talking about referring to gossip/ing as the action of repeating the personal information.

Does this nod to Grammar girl mean you guys listen to the Get It Done Guy? He's my favorite.

Grammar Girl and Get It Done Guy are in the iTunes podcast directory under the "Quick and Dirty Tips" network or www.quickanddirtytips.com

She covers all sorts of grammar mishaps. (I'm sure my grammar is not perfect as I type this)

Nate

PS. Your cast today was dead on. Great recommendations, with reasonable action steps. Keep on.

I used to listen to all of

I used to listen to all of them, but I have to say that in the good advice, I found quite a bit of advice that I wasn't sure I agreed with, and some other advice that I thought might actually be bad, and lead to wasting a bit of time for a manager.

Still, Grammar Girl is very good. :-)

Gossip Control and Rumor Control

Questions for M&M

1)Instead of saying "excuse me ..." to back away from the gossip, wouldn't asking the following question from the gossiper be a better way to disrupt the gossip and bring focus back to the present moment?

"Do you have a question for me to answer?"
(adjusted properly to the context of the conversation)

2)Are we going to have a cast on "Rumor," especially the techniques some managers use to spread the rumor and see how it gets back to them?
