This cast describes a way to approximate One on Ones (O3s) with your boss.
We've been asked this question so many times, it's really amazing that we've waited this long to publicize widely the same answer we've given so many listeners and members. We know, we know: you want to have One on Ones with your boss. But, unless your boss has initiated them with you first, we don't recommend you try to do so. Really!

Great advice, gentlemen! Ends are the issue, not necessarily the means. This podcast reinforces the need for respecting authority while attempting to build good relationships with the boss.

I have been a podcast listener for a couple of months through Zune. Although my first impression was that this podcast was an informal conversation. I have come to appreciate your delivery style backed up with sound advice. Your podcast about having one-on-ones and professional updates with your boss changed my view of my boss. I had been frustrated that my new boss was not setting up one-on-one meetings with me. Now I understand that he doesn’t want a one-on-one from me. He wants short updates so he knows what is going on but that’s all. Understanding this relationship has helped me better except his work style and I am not wasting time wondering why he isn’t setting up one-on-ones. Even in this short period of time, our working relationship together has gotten better maybe more because of my state of mind. Nice cast!

Don't you mean 'if your boss *hasn't* initiated them...'?
